Gmail Manager is a Firefox extension that enables you to keep an eye on multiple Gmail accounts from the Firefox status bar. It can alert you via sound and display a tooltip with previews of new messages that arrive in your Inbox. The program also displays your currently used Gmail disk space and optional mail labels.

Pros: Convenient if you use more than one Gmail account

Cons: Only works as long as Firefox is running; cannot check accounts simultaneously
